Tye Hunt was named Nike #HLTF Athlete of the Week for his record breaking performance at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic on April 16 at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium, the league office announced Tuesday.
Nearly three weeks after his last record-breaking performance in the event at the NC State Raleigh Relays, Hunt set his own record 24′ 4½” (7.43m) in the men’s long jump on his sixth and final attempt at the competition. Hunt jumped 25′ 2½” (7.68m) for the YSU school record and event win. Hunt’s mark acts as the second furthest jump in the league during the 2022 outdoor season and is the 17thand farthest mark on the NCAA East preliminary qualifying list.
Hunt’s selection comes as the second time he’s been chosen for the weekly award during the 2022 outdoor season and the sixth time a member of the YSU athletics program has been selected over five weeks of competition.
